CBD Product FAQs

Cannabidiol (CBD) is 1 of 113 active cannabinoids identified in the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is a major phytocannabinoid, accounting for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. CBD does not appear to have any psychoactive effects such as those caused by THC, so it will not get you high. CBD is recognized for supporting the mind and body in a number of ways and has been regarded to hold many health and wellness benefits.

CBD works by binding to your pet’s natural cannabinoid receptors, known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), thereby supporting overall homeostasis and balance. Consumers commonly use CBD to promote their pets’ general wellness, and manage pain, stress, appetite, nausea, restlessness, and issues relating to their pets’ skin and fur.

Although they have similar chemical structures, CBD and THC produce very different effects within the body. THC causes psychoactive effects, which is the euphoria people experience from consuming marijuana-related products, however CBD is a non-psychoactive compound. THC causes a “high” because it binds to receptors in the brain and spinal cord. CBD binds to receptors in the body that are responsible for reducing inflammation and controlling other physiological functions, such as pain.

Both Hemp and Marijuana are varieties of the Cannabis plant, the primary difference being the chemical makeup of each. Although both Hemp and Marijuana produce CBD, Marijuana also produces high amounts of THC (up to 30%) whereas Hemp naturally contains less than .3% THC. Unlike Marijuana, Hemp is federally legal in the US under the Agricultural Act of 2018 (AKA “The 2018 Farm Bill").

No. CBD is naturally non-intoxicating. Each product is 100% THC-free and non-psychoactive.

Depending on the dosage, CBD effects normally take up to 30 minutes. These results will not produce a “high” effect and the effects will vary depending on your dosage and purpose for using CBD.

We recommend consulting with your physician to help clarify any questions or concerns you have regarding adding cannabinoids with naturally occurring CBD to your existing routine in addition to prescription medications.

Our products should not interfere with any medications your pet is taking, but we suggest consulting with your pet's veterinarian before beginning any CBD regimen.

If you are subject to drug testing, we recommend consulting with your health care provider prior to using CBD products. Most companies only search for the cannabinoid THC, which is the main psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. While our products are THC-free, certain testing facilities check for a spectrum of cannabinoids, which could activate a positive drug test. If you are concerned, we suggest contacting the testing facility, where they are legally obligated to provide you details on which cannabinoids they will be testing for.

Each of our products are third party lab tested to ensure they contain no THC, heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria, or mycotoxins. To view our lab tests, click here.

Administering CBD to yourself or your pets is easy. Simply follow the recommended dosing instructions provided on each product’s packaging. We suggest consulting with your doctor and your pet's veterinarian before beginning any CBD regimen. If your pet is known to show aggression or is prone to biting, it is best to put products into food and keep hands away from mouth.
